Janet Ann Poli passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 1:12 PM at the age of 75 due to complications from pneumonia. Janet was born on September 16, 1942 to Dr. and Mrs. Willis Bogue in Denver Colorado
Soon after she was born the family moved to Chicago and eventually to Paradise California. Janet was the oldest of three siblings with two younger brothers William (Bill) and Benjamin (Ben). Janet was an active 4H member raising and showing rabbits, chickens and goats. As a young girl Janet used to deliver newspapers on her bike. At the age of 14 Janet became a rainbow girl.
In high school Janet was a cheerleader and became head majorette in the Paradise High School Marching Band. Janet was crowned class princess in her junior year of high school. Janet moved to Napa at the start of her Senior Year when her father Dr. Willis Bogue accepted a job at the Napa State Hospital. Janet attended one year at Napa high school as a senior where she met and fell in love with Larry Lawrence Poli. On March 2, 1963 Larry and Janet were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Napa officiated by Reverend Erwin Bollinger. Together Larry and Janet raised three children Bryan, Michael and Leslie Poli.
At the age of 21 Janet got her real estate license and began working for Lowell Black, Realtors. After nine years and several top selling agent awards Janet became a broker and opened her own office. As a broker Janet had great success. Janet was known for selling Silverado country club properties as well as many other high end properties throughout the Valley. Janet wrote a column for the Napa Valley register titled “today’s real estate with Janet Poli”.
In 1988 at the age of 46 Janet Poli realtor closed it’s doors and Janet retired from real estate. Janet bought an RV and traveled with a group called WINDS, a wandering individuals network. Janet was proud to say that throughout her life she traveled to 34 countries. For her 60th birthday Janet decided to go skydiving out of an airplane Janet’s greatest pride and joy was that of her three children and five beautiful grandchildren. Janet treasured time with her family and loved getting together for Sunday night dinners.
Janet Poli will be greatly missed but her life will live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones. Janet Poli is survived by her children Bryan and Megumi Poli, Michael Poli, Brad and Leslie Poli Simpkins, Grandchildren Austin and Andrew Poli, Taylor, Alfred and Teddy Simpkins her brother Ben Bogue and her niece Lori Otterbeck.
A memorial to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at Tulocay cemetery in Napa, on Friday, March 23rd, at 1 PM followed by a reception and private burial.
