Kathryn “Kathee” Wells Jamison went to be with the Lord at the age of 74 on the morning of Sunday, April 2nd, 2017. She passed away at her residence in Hobbs, NM with her family by her side. Mrs. Jamison passed after a seven-month long battle with leukemia.

Kathee was born on November 30, 1942 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Wayne and Ruth Wells. Polio nearly claimed her life as a young child and in recovery from the disease, she developed a love for playing the marimba. As a teenager, her family moved to northern California. Kathee graduated from Napa High School in 1960. She met her husband, William “Bill” Jamison, while she was attending college and waiting tables in Long Beach, CA. Bill was a logging engineer in the oil field. After dating two weeks, the couple officially tied the knot on June 28th, 1964 in Napa, CA. The oil and gas industry brought them out to West Texas and eventually to Hobbs, NM.

In 1991, at the age of 49, Kathee decided to go back to school at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM to pursue a degree in education. She later earned her Master in Counseling. She served as a high school teacher of home economics at Hobbs High School until she retired in 2010. She adored her students and fellow co-workers. Kathee loved Hobbs Eagle basketball and hardly ever missed a game.

Kathee attended Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was known by her generosity, as she consistently gave sacrificially to love others well. She had a passion for both quilting and scrapbooking. She and Bill enjoyed the Livestock Auctions at the Lea County Fair. In all activities, Kathee reflected the Lord to those around her.

Kathee was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ruth Wells, and her Uncle Harvey and Aunt Dorothy Rose of Napa, CA.

Kathee is survived by her husband, Bill Jamison of Hobbs, NM; her eldest daughter and her husband, Beckey and Kent Waldrop of Hobbs, NM; her younger daughter and her husband, Rachel and Don Baldwin of Lubbock, TX; her two siblings and their spouses, Glynn and Patsy Wells of Baltimore, Maryland, and Polly and Doug Theobald of Johnson City, Tennessee; and her six grandchildren, BaLeigh and Brock Waldrop and Emma, Hannah, Noah, and Silas Baldwin; and five nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 6th. Memorial donations may be made in Kathee’s name to Veritas Classical Christian Academy, P.O. Box 2844, Hobbs, NM 88241.
